Issue: Vol. IV, No. 1, May-July, 2025
In the United States, the Academy of American Poets has been celebrating April as National Poetry Month since 1996. In T.S. Eliot’s poetry, April is depicted as a symbol of new possibilities and the loss memories of the old. In Indian tradition, the month of April corresponds to the month of Bohag. Assamese poet Bhupen Hazarika has warmly described Bohag as the courage of public life. Bohag is a time to shed the old and embrace the new. On April 30, 2022, PWF was born during Bohag, fostering new ideas and ideals through poetry.

With the publication of the current issue, PWF completes three years. One of the magazine’s primary objectives was to bring poetry, in all its dignity, to the general readers. Another goal was to introduce Assamese poetry to a broader readership through English translations. Additionally, the magazine aimed to create a unique platform for discussions and reflections on poetry and poetic theory. We are delighted that over these three years, we have had the privilege of collaborating with most contemporary poets, writers, and translators as companions. On the occasion of completing three years, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all readers, poets, writers, translators, and well-wishers of PWF. We hope to continue receiving your goodwill and support in the days ahead.
