Issue: Vol. V, No. 2, August-October, 2026

Poetry is a powerful way to express our inner thoughts. However, not everyone can do this. Those who can express themselves through poetry are called poets. Being a poet is a special privilege. If you are not a poet, do not be disappointed. You can become a skilled reader and find words that describe your own feelings in the work of others. Poets write while imagining a reader who shares similar feelings. They want their own emotions to reach and touch the hearts of others. A reader can feel the same joy while reading a poem that the poet felt while writing it.
Everyone has a poetic mind hidden inside them. Sometimes it appears as a poet, and other times as a reader. Every poet tries to bring out the “poet” hidden inside the reader.
Both the poet and the reader are equally important. A poem cannot stand on its own. To stand tall, a poem needs two shoulders: one belongs to the poet, and the other belongs to the reader. A poem truly proves its existence only when both support it. Through the combined efforts of the poet and the reader, a poem comes to life. Without the reader, a poem is just words on paper, like a body without life.
At the time of preparing this issue of PWF, more than 300,000 people across seven districts of Assam were affected by floods. The floods on July 20 caused the most damage in three districts of Upper Assam. As of July 29, the death toll from the floods has reached 78. More than 16,000 people have been displaced and had to take shelter in relief camps.
During this severe disaster, along with the government and administration, various voluntary groups, organizations, and the general public have stood selflessly to help the flood victims. We wish that this love and kindness for fellow citizens never decreases among people.
