Gratitude 

An old man and a woman 
Together became very uncertain 
Of what one day might happen 
To other old men and women. 

Parental duties were not recorded in books 
Gratitude does not reflect in their looks
Parents did what really mattered 
Their hopes are now badly shattered. 

The old man and the woman 
Are now more and more uncertain 
Of what might in future happen 
If they stayed with the children. 

The old man said to the old woman 
Snapping filial ties is natural and human 
The birds do not rely on their children
And fly on their wings as far as they can.
