Sankardev
Sankardev has come out of Sanchipaat
To give a spiritual identity to the
Assamese people through a unique way
oozing history laced tunes with the essence of
devotion from Kirtan Ghosa, Bhagawat, melodious Borgeet, Bhaona
in the silver waves of the exotic river
the vital power of literature-culture in the blue sky
O sarvagunakar
A sky of a big banyan tree
perfect match on the earth
Against the flow of reforms in four generations of intellectuality
Rescuing a moth eaten society from the abyss
Wrote down in the mind’s pages
The Gunamala
Heartthrob Zubeen Garg
You’d see from the stairs of white cloud
everyone enchanted in dream, stunned
You’d see sleepless magical night
thronged by the crowd
the way you were besieged
You’d see the weeping of all people
you were hailed at every place – temple mosque satra naamghar
humming the tune ‘Mayaabinee’ of the eternal voice reverberating flow
you have lain on the sea-floor leaning on the afternoon
bearing the burden of the sky over your bosom
The birds got startled at the siesta of the star
The sea did not know the depth of your mental sea
The wind have heard your humming the heart touching smile
let the time stall
let the noble entity of the entire nation turn into a song, a heart touching strange tune
Just listen once the cries for compassion of human hearts
endless love and encouragement of next generation
When the wave comes to your mind in the tune of song and poem
your abode is at everyone’s heart
in the light of the river of sunshine your sincere confession
You don’t have any nationality
You don’t have any religion
A magnificent work above God and the Devil
A true picture rooted with pure and innocent words
Your sketch in the sea of humanity of the mournful city
A new wave of change comes down holding on to the edge of your magical tune
most things you say is spontaneous
you sow them in the reckless flow of tune
life love time
in the huge expanse of sea of humanity
you are a divine poem o hero of the era
I said to the river
As you said to the sea
You released the scarf of love into the sky
